The reason i'm asking, is because i was wondering if it was possible to make a reservation at a Hyatt hotel (that participates in the FHR program) through the AMEX FHR website with your AMEX platinum card and get the upgrade & other perks by doing so, and then at checkout pay for the room with Hyatt Gift Certificates.
Rules for FHR is you must use an Amex card (any type; doesn't need to be the platinum used for the booking and can even be a credit card, not a charge card) to pay for the room and at check out.
(I've tried more than once, at different places in the world, and they insisted on the Amex payment).
YMMV whether the property chooses to overlook this, but regulations stipulate that it must be an Amex card.
