Actually, they do. UA has a fare class-based EQM system that provides 1.5 EQM per mile flown for all fares from Y/B up. Other than paid F, which offers 1.5 RDM per mile flown, this means more EQM than RDM in those classes.

This is UA's version of AA's "miles or points" system. It's less confusing, IMHO, since there's one counter to deal with rather than two, and it avoids the AA problem of not valuing an opportunity to earn more EQPs if that counter is already way below the EQM counter due to deep-discount flights earlier in the year. Still, it's different, and any system can be confusing to those who aren't familiar with it.

Bonus miles awarded for having elite status are not EQMs in either program.
