- quad-band GSM: so it can be used almost everywhere.
- full qwerty keyboard, slider type: useful for taking notes on the go. I don't like the on-screen "soft" keyboard or the arched blackberry type.
- proper browser: useful for online check-ins & webmail. needs to support HTML, SSL, cookies etc.
- wifi: connect to hotel/airport internet
- decent camera: 5MP or more + flash.
- easily connects to a PC: bluetooth & USB file transfer.
I'm not planning to run office-like applications so I don't need a full "smartphone" just something with easy connectivity to the internet and a pc, and with a proper keyboard.
Would appreciate advice on which models to consider.
TIA,
Mike.
One useful feature for international travelers is WiFi calling, allows you make make phone calls without roaming charges if you can connect to WiFi (also saves having a microcell if your local reception is not good. unfortunately this feature is only supported byu T-Mobile and with the pending AT&T takeover, who knows if it will stay. However, it is likley to be around for the next 18-24 months, and after that we might all be on LTE
