Of the ones that do have the view, one end is first class, the other end is usually reservable second class. Also the driver can obscure the view with a push of a button.
It also gets obscured when you get to a neutral section (the gap between 2 substation feeds) as the power goes off then and the obscuring medium is polarised glass. This needs current to stay clear. Typically the window will go opaque for about 15-20s.
