3. That depends on what "it" is. Even if your "it" is Executive Platinum status, there are other ways to earn it. Besides, AA has had many double-EQP promotions in each of the last few years. These promos generally require you to fly to, from or through specific cities. Again, specifics are in the AA forum - or, for those available at any given time, on aa.com.
