A friend of mine stayed at the Roosevelt two months ago and I checked out the room. It's been remodelled and looks good! The rooms have a bit of the W feel to them, without the dark walls. The bathrooms and rooms are of good size. It appears that they took two of the older rooms and knocked the wall down between them to make a larger room.

That said, Hollywood is still a dump. The Hollywood/Highland complex has made things better, but it's still pretty nasty.

I'd suggest the other options here like staying downtown (Bonaventure) and taking the Metro subway to Hollywood or staying in Westwood at the W if you are into that concept and need to stay with *Wood. Things in LA are so spread out that you just need to pick a place as central to the sights you wish to see and rent a car to see them.

I would still make use of a W at Hollywood/Vine periodically for my weekend nights out in LA - built it *wood!
