New data-point:

Prior to applying for the Capital One personal card since January 1, 2010, I had 15 inquires and a Fico score of 761 (Experian). I was approved for the card after 3 hard-pulls to me credit report which dropped my Fico score to 749. This past week I applied forthe business card and was approved instantly but also received 3 additional inquires to my credit report which now total 21 during the past 15 months. I always pay off my credit cards each month but since most new promotions are for first time cardholders only I won't be applying for any more credit cards for the remainder of 2011.
