I think what you're trying to ask here is whether you get your status bonus redeemable miles whether you book an AA-coded flight or a QF-coded one? To me this is a significant advantage oneworld has over *A, in that you get your elite bonus miles on most oneworld partners, not a small subset like UA.

So there is no distinction in bonus miles on that front. But as vasantn has mentioned, it is far more beneficial for you to book the AA coded flight as you will earn at a rate of 100% of flown miles, rather than 50% if you book a QF flight on discount fares. That said, you will typically pay a premium of around $500 from the lowest fare it seems to do so.
