Well I guess YMMV as with many issues. I was able to easily add my OP# and assign myself an E+ seat on my original flight, although the earlier flight they put me on they did not have an E+ seat for me. I was confused on the upgrade front. My OP# was in the CO reservation but not the UA, I didn't feel like making an extra call if it wasn't necessary.
How was checking in? or did you just print online?
I have done a few of these DFW-IAH. Two times, I received EUAs at the 5-day mark from Continental. I always had no problem selecting my seats on co.com for these flights that are sold as UA flights. Both co.com and the CO Airport Kiosks worked like a charm. I never even had to interact with an agent. I guess it truly is a YMMV issue.
