I used to think that, but if F is allowed up to 70lbs and you can pay $$ for overweight items wouldn't this be hard to control? Maybe they have a designated non-union, ex-WWF baggage handler?
I do think there's some special handling b/c my wife's checked bag always breaks the limit (thank you US, for UGs to F) and is tagged with a "HEAVY" tag. So much so that she now refers to it by its nickname, "Heavy."
