No there isn't, and there can be advantages.

I got burned once when I had to change only one segment of the roundtrip, and the other segment went up, so I had to pay change fee AND higher price even though the segment I was changing stayed the same In US the legacy carriers often charge more for one way than r/t, but that time it would have been the same booking it either way.

I did what you propose a few years back, but it was AirAsia and Jet * Airways IIRC.
