I was thnking about this last night but didn't want to say anything to distract from the issue and make it personal. As polite as the Japanese are, I bet that was what they were thinking when you were arguing with them. It is good that you thought about this too.

It is interesting that many Americans frequently assume the rest of the world works the same as America while non-Americans tend to assume their county works differently from the rest of the world
