Arrow Carbon Monoxide/Smoke Detector: Any restrictions (carry on or checked baggage)?

Greetings,

I would like to take a home (not portable) combination carbon monoxide and smoke detector to Russa from NY on a plane. I looked all through TSAs website, and here, and didn't see anything definitive. I wouldn't be concerned, except I remember at least when I was a kid that smoke detectors had some slight radioactive footprint.

Anyone know if I can take the device with me, and if so should I check it or carry it on?

Thanks!
