Reducing capacity is not a way to make profits. They just need to assign planes to underserved routes (even if they do not touch a hub) with time of day they can get good loads.
That's what I feel too. I'm sure there are nonhub routes that would be popular that can make money, and also promote more loyalty. Perhaps they can do such routes out of popular spokes.
