I started reading it only because I was confused as to why his status had changed (before we received the letter). After noticing the dates on the first few posts, I skipped to the back to see why the thread was up near the top of the forum. I'll often do something like that--read the first page, then skip to the last page, and work my way back through, until I figure out why the thread is important now.
His status was updated, at the latest, last week, but his letter didn't arrive until Tuesday. Depending on where you are, it may just take a few extra days for the letter to reach you.
The letter did also contain a Gold Elite membership card, FWIW.
