While AA competitors will assign mainline domestic flights to where they can make money, even if they are NOT hubs, AA seems to stick to their loosing money HUB fortress strategy.
Reducing capacity is not a way to make profits. They just need to assign planes to underserved routes (even if they do not touch a hub) with time of day they can get good loads.
