Resolution:

AS partner desk cancelled the tickets and redeposited the miles with no hassle. Taxes and fees already paid were not refunded but no additional fees or penalties were charged. We were offered the opportunity to change the dates with no fee (but where additional taxes might be due we would have been charged) but declined.
