Newbie Hard Shell Seat and Diabetic Meal Questions

Hi,

We were booked via tour on Cathay Pacific 777-300ER Economy LAX - to Hong Kong.

In researching if it was worth the extra $$ to book the exit row seats, I learned of the fantastic hard shell seat.

Questions.
1) Is there anything we can do to improve comfort? Have seen various inflatable pillow contraptions advertised. (Note that my flying experience is limited to typical american airlines so maybe all the bad press on these seats is overblown....hopefully).

2) Reviews seem to indicate that paying extra for the few exit row seats is not worth it as -- with the hard shell torture chambers - I mean seats - leg room is not an issue and you lose the window and your are likely to be near a baby as the bassinet is nearby. Do you concur?

3) I'm an very very active insulin dependent diabetic. I typically eat normally. Does anyone know what they serve for the diabetic meal? I can't decide if i should order it or go normal.

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge and insight.
