I was busy composing the following before I read the
jordyn post
The
[email protected] address are private.... not to be used by the general public and for you to claim otherwise is silly, especially since I have a lot more knowledge about this than you do. IMHO, they shouldn't be here.
The email address format may have been intended to be "private.... not to be used by the general public", but it isn't since it was "published" by FS on the internet and thus became available to the "general public".
I would prefer that my email addresses be private and not be subject to unwanted spam. But there are internet crawlers constantly harvesting addresses. I remember the internet before the
WWW and the first commercial advertising mass mailing breach of the
Netiquette rules. It made the WSJ and the NYT.
Since I never “claimed” to have
any knowledge about “this” (if you or the FS Preferred Partner group), obviously you as a PP “have a lot more knowledge”. Nor do I "claim" the addresses were/are not intended to be "private". I do state that they are not now, nor have they ever been, in fact "private", since they are displayed on this thread, in your post, and have been and now are still on a FS website that can be accessed by the public - in spite of what was intended by FS. IMO, what
is "silly" is for you to argue otherwise.
To regain some level of 'privacy', I would suggest the address format be changed and the FS PP website section be deleted or password protected. As of now there is none in spite of the “intentions".
