I was able to book four R/T SAT-DFW-HNL (OGG, LIH, and KOA had options too) last July for a trip this coming June. One favorable glitch is BA gets AA inventory (I think this is equivalent to OW inventory) at 355 days, while AA members can't even see/book those flights until 330 days. So, if you can plan that far in advance, I've seen plenty of availability on a number of sample bookings (Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Caribbean) on AA. Also, don't forget BA miles can book IB flights too. The BA website is clunky, and phone booking equally so (long delays, uneven agent knowledge), but persistence should pay off in finding some type of valuable use of the miles.
