As an FYI, I used agoda.com for three hotel bookings in Thailand in March 2010, and it worked flawlessly. Two of the hotels didn't even require a printout of the confirmation -- a blurry .pdf on my blackberry was sufficient (I had a paper printout for third hotel).
As for forex fees, I was quoted in USD on agoda.com, and that's what showed up on my US-based credit card statement. However, since the billing address was located in the UK, Citi still socked me with the forex fee. Of course this fee is easily avoided by having a credit card with no forex fees.
