And some people do like Singapore so don't worry I'm sure you will too - just walk around some of the areas mentioned above but avoid Orchard Road unless you want to go shopping!

I would disregard the S-la because of it's location - we did stay there once but you generally always had to take a taxi (taxis are very cheap but it's nice just to walk out and explore) for most places you wanted to go (apart from Orchard Road) We've stayed in both the MO and the RC and both are great especially if you book a club floor room (free champagne in the club lounge in the evenings). Have you considered Raffles - if it's not your scene you should at least go there for a drink although it is a bit of a tourist trap now. If you're staying you get access to the main lobby etc which those not staying don't.

One nice thing to do is have a cocktail on the terrace of The Fullerton hotel and watch the boat traffic on the river. A river view suite at The Fullerton (not Bay) would also be nice - when we were looking it was also a Virtuoso property.
