This is what the intro to 'About A-club' says:

Earn A|Club points the fast way You earn A|Club points at more than 2300 hotels. Points never expire!

So there we go, it says points never expire. It seems they do in the case of the person above!
Same message in both the French and Spanish sites so it isn't a translation error into English, gotta be worth a mail, but I too wouldn't hold my breath....
