True. But knowing how the inventory release system usually works separately from the waitlist clearing system, it is a possible scenario. In fact, a few years ago, you used to be able to "jump the queue" on AA by calling in to the automated system at right time for the domestic upgrade. While they fixed that for domestic upgrade, it seems like SWU may still have the same hole.
Anyway, I have no proof, but certainly the value for EF is there, even if I couldn't jump the queue.
