The fact that when my bags have been delayed in the past, the obvious question "Were my bags loaded onto the flight?" has never given an answer.
The reason I ask that question is that if they were not, it's possible that the best solution for me is to collect them from where they are the next time I go there, which given my travel pattern may be quite soon!
If that information is stored, it's all the worse that it can't be retrieved by a baggage agent at destination, or that they are not allowed to tell me!
It also might provide a quicker solution to the situation where someone has picked up the wrong bag, as might scanning on putting on the belt - "it was definitely delivered" = "someone has taken it", for example.
With this kind of information, quicker location and retrieval may be possible.
Not only that, but if the airline *knows* bags are not being loaded for a particular passenger, they should be given the option not to fly. Sometimes the luggage is essential to the purpose of the journey.
