You probably would have been doing them a favor if you mentioned something to them. It's very possible they didn't know the drinks were not free. Many of the Marriotts overseas don't charge for drinks in the concierge lounge. I found out the hard way that they charge for liquor in the states after inviting some business associates to have drinks with me in the lounge. I wasn't told there was a charge until the end of the evening.
