We are now comped to a suite at the Waikiki, based on status (they put the points back).

We will still move to the Moana Surfrider if we can get a suite tomorrow. If not, we will stay at the Waikiki.

I just don't understand why the hotel messed around with the reservations in the first place. This is the second time in the past few months where our reservation has been changed. It is not so bad if we catch it before we arrive at the hotel and can change it back, but it is not so good when we arrive (as we did in San Diego) to find that they are full and that our reservation has been cancelled.
