My own eyes. People have no choice for shopping around, they are bound to a sole unionized provider no matter how bad the service may be.

Unions also ruined the TTC. I took subway from Kipling to downtown recently. The subway stations underground are in a shocking state of disrepair. Dirty, leaking water, corrosion, ceilings rotting/crumbling away. It reminded me of a communist block country. The streetcars are 30 yrs old. Ditto the subway rolling stock. Embarassing. No new subway lines(execpt for the redundant Sheppard line) for many decades despite the population explosion in GTA.

TTC is going broke yet fares rise every year. The money is siphoned off by the union mafia, to its members.

Former Toronto Mayor John Sewell recently wrote in a community newspaper (his column), that Toronto police respond to an average of one call per shift. Yet, 50% of our city tax dollars go to cops and their military-like arsenal of weapons, G20 toys, and gold plated benefits, pensions and overtime. The city is going broke! Crime remains the same, yet the sacred cow of union policing cannot be touched.
