So I went there - and found the vey same hotel very same type of room for a lower price. Not a huge difference, but adding up to about 14$ (almost 10%) for my stay.
So I used the chat service on priceline.com and was referred to their hotline. After five minutes of a listening to all sorts of nonsense I was finally in queue for a person, who, after some further waiting, told me that I was not eligible for the Best price guarantee as the room was no longer avilable on easyklicktravel.com. However, it was in fact available. While on the phone with priceline.com I actually went through the process on easyklicktravel.com and booked the room - then I told the priceline.com clerk to cancel my reservation with them.
Only at the end I was made aware of the fact that I would have received the price difference PLUS 25$ - if they had not screwed me on their "Best price guarantee".
I checked the next day (this evening) again and easycklicktravel.com was still offering that room for the lower price. I was actually able to book it a second time (long story why that was necessary).
Is this a typical behaviour by priceline.com? Is the "Best price guarantee" only a marketing gag that is not really honored? What is your experience?
I asked for an e-mail address but the clerk told me that priceline.com didn't have an e -mail address. :-)
Was your Priceline purchase through their NYOP (Name Your Own Price) channel or their retail product?
