Being in the hotel industry, I know we regularly overbooked. The close we got to 100% the higher we would raise the rates. The idea being there would be some no shows and alternatively we would walk the less desirable (lower rates non elite members) to a near by hotel or our sister hotel a few miles away. When it came to overbooking, usually we would go over by 10-15%.
