Just had this same question. If you have ExpertFlyer you can look up the seat maps for your flights and then call to request specific seats.
This is a pretty basic function. I'm surprised QR hasn't implemented it.
They are going to launch their new website later this year. I saw a few images of the new website from a friend of mine who works there. However, what concrete new functions they are going to introduce, I don't know.
