Objectively that indicates to me that the airline is incompetent, and takes its customer base for granted. With this poor quality of management, access to technollogy is not going to be very helpful to THAI Airlines like EK and BA already use customised tech to track and reward elites -- they dont have to wiat for some smart card to iron out its bugs to do this

I dont think THAI has the ability (in terms of management implementation and effectiveness) to give better perks or services to Plats if they ever ever get around to implementing it, they just dont seem to have the aptitude. I am an elite on three airlines and cannot even dream of such incompetence on any of them

And the posts on TIPs indicates to me that THAI management gets its incentives from places other than the airlines performance. That explains to me why THAIi is so much worse a performer, commercially and service wise, than its Asian competitors, why it continues to deploy such old and ridiculously outmoded aircraft etc...

Luckily THAI is in *A so far better to get elite status on some other airline and give ROP a wide berth is the moral of the story I am hearing on this thread --even if they give you a free massage in BKK for being Plat -- you can get those cheaply in BKK without having to suffer this incompetence just for that perk
Congratulations! Your post is candidate for my "post of the year". You are spot on.

Some fans of TG like the excellent contributor BKKROP simply see TG through pink glasses. Some views from outside are welcome.

TG is not bad, but they are not what they claim to be. This is also the case for Thailand as a whole. Nevertheless ROP has some excellent perks like the GUP for golds and the birthday gift which is now for the second year a return award for 50 % of the miles. All in all OK, but not world class but excellent given the country where they operate from.
