It then dawned on me - Sky Priority? Doesn't that logically mean you would have priority getting into the sky? Nope - you need to wait in line just like everyone else. You'd think DL flights would get sky priority, especially in Atlanta.
Maybe the pilot didn't see the Sky Priority lane with the ginormous stanchion and red webbed belt going across?
Or maybe those planes in front were simply runway lice?

Seems the OP must have been on a lower "tier" plane (pun intended) like an A319/320, DC-9-50, or CRJ w/ F. This would explain the aircraft's rank in the "Sky Priority runway upgrade" list.
Had he been on an MD-88, MD-90, CRJ w/o F, or an ERJ145, his aircraft would have been even lower on the list. If it had been winter, these aircraft would still be in de-icing since there's no Sky Priority lane for de-icing.
