Wonder if pax was connecting from an international flight? (UGH, there I go speculating like most of FT!) Or maybe just a fluke "in the abundance of caution" as they like to say. Likely not the norm for a routine domestic flight. I don't dismiss what you experienced, just mean to point out that there would be so many more flight delays if every bag had to be matched with every pax. That's just not the reality.
