Here's something you might want to bring to her attention. Leaving at 5pm on a Friday evening to go to JFK from West Orange, you both will be sitting in a lot of traffic no matter what directions you take. If she needs to be able to have access to a bathroom, you might want to consider taking a train from Orange into Penn Station. True, Penn Station will be crowded but the NJ Transit train will be fine. You and she should be able to sit together. I used to commute on that route at that time. Now the Long Island Railroad train to Jamaica will be crowded but I would think someone would offer your wife a seat. There are PLENTY of trains leaving for Jamaica every few minutes. Plus the LIRR and NJ Transit bathrooms are there at Penn for her disposal...literally.

This is just an idea....just let your wife know that the traffic will be awful and it might take more than a couple of hours. You might even be cutting it a little too closely timewise.
