#1 - Singapore Air new business class seat (only on a few planes) - better than any US carrier first class seat. excellent IFE, huge screen, 3 feet wide.
#2 - United new business class Seat - most comfortable biz class seat to sit in besides new Singapore Air. less so for sleep. excellent screen and good IFE. ipod movies a nice bonus. (Drop this lower if getting in and out of seat is very important to you.)
#3 - Air Canada new business class seat - best combo of privacy, but decent feel. good to sit in and good to sleep in, but not best in either.
#4 - Continental new business class seat - excellent IFE, good comfort in sitting and sleeping, easy to get in and out of seat.
#5 - Emirates Air business class seat - very comfortable, excellent IFE.
#6 - USAIR new business class seat - much better than what is currently offered, but pales in comparison to other new offerings. great to get in and out of seat. very plastic feel. excellent privacy. good IFE and ok screen size.
#7 - Lufthansa business class seat - best when they came out, but now a bit behind the latest. only angled lie flat. good IFE. Needs to be updated.
#8 - Thai Air business class seat - not lie flat (excluding leased Jet air 777's) - very good IFE, comfortable for sitting, not great for sleeping.
(As you can see, I almost exclusively fly *A) So my net is the USAIR new suite is good - and perfectly acceptable good option - but there are better options.
This smells a bit like a flame. I would hardly say US' Biz Seat "Pales in comparison to other new offerings." United's seat is narrow, there isn't a place to set anything (even a pair of glasses), and forget aisle access if you want a window. I might give a slight edge to its IFE.
I can not compare Asian and Middle East Airlines and you probably should not, since they are not competing on the same routes.
My ranking would be as follows:
LX
US or CO (I have not flown the new CO yet)
AC
UA
LH
The only one I would turn my nose up at is LH.
