It seems like TEPCO is more interested in trying to save whatever is left of the plant rather than just outright sinking it. Like what BP did with the oil spill in the gulf of Mexico, they tried other methods before finally doing the top kill method that would render the pump "dead". I think TEPCO should do whatever it takes is to "kill" the nuclear reactor and write that plant off before they do any serious damage to the nearby communities. I am no expert, but that is the vibe I am getting from them based on their press releases and the news...
