Yes the Corvette Convertible has now changed to "or similar"
Again I assume Hertz is still playing around and has forgotton to get rid of the "or similar"
Wait a few weeks and it'll sort itself
There appears to be a bit of confusion about the ZHZ Corvettes.
The 2008 Corvette ZHZ's were all hardtops and they were all sold off well over a year ago.
There were 500 of the 2009 Corvette ZHZ's in Hertz's fleet and they were all convertibles. These are the cars that are still in the fleet today and most of them have 30,000 miles by now.
My best guess is that the Corvette's will be replaced with new models in May. As this has been the pattern since the Corvette convertible debuted in the Hertz fleet in 2007. Until the new Corvette's arrive Hertz will keep renting out the 2009 ZHZ convertibles.
The last 2009 ZHZ convertible I rented had almost 30,000 miles back in September and was in surprisingly really good shape and drove like new.
I really can't see them renting anything other than the Corvette in that class so I don't understand why they would put or similar, hopefully the website is updated soon as I have a reservation this month for one.
The last batch of Mustang convertibles and Camaros were added to the fleet last April/May 2010. I'm wondering if the Camaro SS is showing no availability right now for pretty much any dates as maybe delivery dates haven't been finalized yet.
If anyone has a reservation for a Camaro this month you might want to call Hertz and see if it's a leftover V6 model or actually an SS.
Unlimited miles are available on the Corvette, but to get that you have start with a reservation for a car with unlimited miles (eg: full size) and upgrade to the Corvette at the counter. This will most likely result in a rate that is $200-300 higher per week than what you were quoted with the limited mileage, but it may be worthwhile if you plan on doing a lot of driving.
