2) specific card. Banks which issue Amex-network cards should have no access to information about your relationship with American Express (except to the extent it is reported to a credit bureau.) Bank of America (MBNA) does not manage these accounts on behalf of the American Express company, they merely use Amex's transaction network instead of MasterCard or VISA because Amex collects and shares higher merchant transaction fees.
