One of the distinct benefits of NZ Self Check-in over QF's is that all of the tagging, bag weighing etc takes place at the kiosk and then the bag is simply dropped on a belt. The QF system becomes more convoluted by using two stations which each use their own system. If the QF system was like NZ and everything got done before you got to the bag belt I suspect you would have less problems.
Just the tagging. WLG and AKL have an automatic system built into the belt that separates each bag, weighs each one, scans the tag and assigns the weight to each bag in the system. No human input required.
