Thanks William for your help. I was just frustrated with all the chasing down of points. I was told by a rep at SPG that these stays would qualify because I specifically asked if I should cancel the exsisting reservation and re-do or will I get the points. But it's all OK now so thanks again.

I think the rest of you are right, the pros of SPG do outweigh the occasional misunderstanding.
