Arrival Lounge and Rooms with a View
The arrival lounge has three private bathrooms for early arrivals with shower combinations, one of which is equipped for wheelchair access. They are very comfortable and are stocked with the same excellent quality towels and toiletries that stock the guest rooms. As has been mentioned in a previous post, this floor was not designed by the same designer who executed the rest of hotel so these bathrooms are different, almost completely white tile (very calm and soothing).
The lounge itself overlooks Green Park, Big Ben, and all of Westminster. There is a small balcony with two tables and two chairs with a high quality telescope. In the morning nespresso, tea, and baked goods are provided complimentary. Its very nice to sit outside and enjoy the view on the balcony. You can order room service to the lounge and today we enjoyed the Italian afternoon tea as the sun set over the city. I can highly recommend doing this. (There was a room service delivery charge).
There are 10 floors in the hotel, with the 10th floor dedicated to the Spa, Arrival Lounge, and Gym. The 8th and 9th floors have views of either Westminster, Hyde Park, or city views (an office building or the Intercontinental on the other). The 9th floor is a smoking floor. On the 8th floor the rooms with a full view of Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and the London Eye are numbers 819,21,23,25,27, and 829. These views are stunning and worth a premium price. The 7th floor rooms with similar numbers (719...) might have partial views.
