In the material I was given and as the Purser told me, MPC Green is complimentary if you sign up while on a Cathay Pacific long-haul flight in Business or First. There is no US$50 joining fee for this particular situation. My husband has free MPC Green through the CX-AMEX (soon to be Silver from our 2 transpacific flights this year) and we almost always travel together, so I never bothered to pay for it before.

Green is actually pretty useless to me right now since we fly Business 99% of the time anyway, but it will be more useful once I start work in September and have to travel for my firm. The personalised name tags are nice, tho.
