The magnitude of the earthquake has been increased from 8.9 to 9 on the Richter Scale.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano has stated that in Plant 1, Reactor 3, may experience an explosion due to a hydrogen buildup. (Similar to the explosion experienced yesterday in Plant 1, Reactor 1).

"He emphasized that even if an explosion occurs, the impact should not affect the pressure vessel and containment vessel."
