It sure ain't comp upgrades, because I get operational upgrades less than 20% of the time. It isn't often employees, either. Halifax-Ottawa it's almost always senior government (MPs, senators, deputy ministers and the like). Halifax-Montreal there are quite a few also (since for some connections at some times of day the only way to get to/from Ottawa is via Montreal). And Halifax-Montreal and Halifax-Toronto there are of course a lot of people flying between head office and regional office.

Yes, it's been a while for me; late 2000 I started on a project that kept me fairly busy; in 2001 they moved me temporarily to Ottawa and I didn't have time at work to do this at all. And at the hotel the connection speeds were awful. But I'm back in good 'old YYG again, cursing the lack of competition out of here, the overbooked flights (a friend of mine collected $900 in MCOs in one day sitting in Halifax waiting to get home), and the ridiculous fares.
