Why on earth would you consider anything else? Are they driving a Ferrari or something exotic that they are afraid to park on the street?

If you want to "guarantee" them a convenient parking spot, find a nearby street with Friday street cleaning (e.g., 11:30-1:00) and tell them to get there when the street will be clear. As a backup plan in case their arrival is delayed, have a commercial-only or public school street in mind where the daytime restriction will end between 5-7 p.m., depending on the street, and won't resume again until Monday morning.
This suggestion could work, but what I don't like with this approach is that the parking issue starts to become "my problem" (I have to find streets, I have to have a back-up, I have to answer questions if something goes screwy, etc).

I'd much give them simple, fool-proof instructions, and leave their execution squarely in the "your problem" camp.

But I do thank everyone for the suggestions.
