If I am in the tropics, and the flowers are cut from the gardens outside, I think it is lovely to see fresh flowers everywhere. However, in London in March, if I am seeing tropical cut flowers everywhere, then no, I don't really like it as much. I think about how far those flowers have been flown, their carbon footprint, the cost of them (which as the customer is indirectly being built into my stay cost) etc. I'd rather see potted plants / flowers that can be grown locally (pretty hyacinths at this time of year for example), or at least have a much longer shelf life, and locally produced flowers (daffodils etc.) which also supports local flower farms etc.
