I have an aeroplan award miles itinerary beginning on Sat morning. My award ticket is all business except for the first segment (YVR-YYC). Upon booking this itinerary I was told that there was currently no available business class seating for this segment, however the agent did put a note on my account for me to be upgraded should room open up. My question is as follows: Does the manner in which I check-in (web,blackberry, in person @ yvr) affect my ability to be upgraded or this simply something that will happen last minute @ the gate and check-in method is a moot point here?

FYI, it's the time you check-in taht counts for an upgrade, however you should know that Aeroplan bookings standing by for an upgrade almost come last on the priority list. SE, E, P and M class fares go ahead of you. But when you check-in at the counter ask them if they can confirm you....good luck!
