Absolutely. They're not looking for 10,000 folks with 100,000 miles... they're looking for 100,000 folks with 10,000 miles. And you can be sure that kettles everywhere will be getting < 10K miles and be THRILLED they're doubled. C1 is counting on that. They weren't counting on FlyerTalk.

Yes, that's how the program works. You reserve your miles once you get your approval and code. If everyone is in this holding pattern, the bucket will be mostly full. A week from now, a 7-10 day delay makes the program worthless.

Yes. You're being overly negative when there's no need to be. Of course it's a marketing stunt. They want balance transfer interest, and they want usage fees, and everything else that goes with it. And they're targeting people who have a travel-related credit card who are more likely to spend on credit and spend on travel above and beyond the average credit card holder.
That's what marketing is.
