I have taken both AF (185) and LX exHKG.
Both are a midnight flight so the dinner (or supper) service is an hastened one as pax mostly wish to sleep. So one cannot compare the LX shortened service with that of a day flight on AF.
Both airlines use check-in agents at HK airport and it is hard to see a difference between both. I guess that one arriving several hours before a flight could experience a problem (usually check in only opens 2 hours or so before flight), but lines are alwasy speedy at HKIA whatever the airline.
To me the seat makes up well over 50% of my rating (probably 80% for a 13hr flight). Other aspects are entertainment, food/wine, service... The new solo biz seat on LX is wonderful, so LX rates much much above AF in my book. On all other criteria rate LX above AF, except on food where it is even. Of course, service depends on the crew, so my rating is only based on average experience.
